Question: my cat is not using his paw?

( Back )

Answer #1:

Is he a polydactyl cat? If so, the claws from his extra fingers may be digging into his paws.

Answer #2:

See if anything is imbedded into the paw such as a spinter or other thing. If that is the case, then soak the paw in warm water with a little salt in it. If nothing is in the paw, you might wrap it very light ly, until Monday when you take him to the vet.

Answer #3:

Have you tried asking both of them? Only instead of accusing them outright, say something like "do you think someone dropped my kitten while I was gone" or "what do you think happened to my kitten" - go by their body language as well as what they say.

Btw, cats don't meow when they are in pain. Neither do dogs cry or yelp. The fact he's refusing to walk on it, tells me he is.

I'm thinking a sprain, and since the first thing you don't want to do is make it worse, I'd leave it alone and continue bringing his food and water to him. It's not that long until Monday. Hang in there. Oh, I almost forgot to advise you to move his litter box closer. You and your cat will be fine.
